i think what he means is that after a while you start to convince yourself you like it just because it's made by someone whose past works you've enjoyed. "getting used to the shittiness" is a weird way to say it but it's like you're starting to adapt to something and making yourself think its better than it is due to more association with the feel of the record, it becomes more familiar and the mind interprets that as enjoyment
at least thats my interpretation

I genuinly like this album
the 1st and 8th track drag a bit but the rest is pretty damn good, especially The Astral Dialogue, Dark Matter Gods and Celestial Effigy
