Album worth listening to, no doubt. It's a little slow in the beginning, but as soon as "The Angelic Welcome of Mr. Jones" starts, the album really gets going!

The casualness is what ruined this review for me. First person used way too much, lots of off-topic talk, etc.

Fire Escape is a damn good song.

Thought it'd be impossible to match the bar they set with Torches... but I think they surpassed it, surprisingly. Sure, the tracks won't be as exposed as the ones on Torches, since Torches produced like 40 singles, but Supermodel is damn good.

Fire Escape, Goats in Tree, Ask Yourself, Nevermind, and Pseudologia Fantastic are my favorites.

Hmm....

Just listened to this all the way through. My first reaction is kind of mixed. It's NOT as immediately listenable as their debut. On one listen, not much sticks out.

I really dig the two mostly acoustic songs though. Goats in Trees and Fire Escape are fantastic.

"A Beginner's Guide to Destroying the Moon" is probably my favorite.

Thinking about it, slow acoustic songs are really what was missing from the debut. "Waste" is the only slowish song on the album, and even that is pretty midtempo.

This is definitely a more "mature" album.

Yeah, I'm not sure maturity is what these guys needed.

I thought it worked well for them honestly. Plus the lyrics were better on Supermodel.

I need to listen to it more to make a real decision on whether it was a good decision or not. (:

Moriendi, you had this as a 4.5 a few days ago. What made you change your mind?

Yeah, I've got some 4.5s that I like way more than others. I really need to ternate a bunch of stuff.

The hype went down for me a little. It's a really good album, but it's not really mind blowing or anything.

Some points, specifically "Coming of Age" and "The Truth" aren't really interesting at all. Superb felt like it was a little too strong of a word to describe this album. A huge reason of why it's enjoyable relies on catchiness and relatability in the lyrics, which isn't necessarily the best thing.

With that said most of the songs are awesome, so it warrants at least a 4 for me.
