Well, its not like La Dispute started making this album in Novembers when ALLB's album came out. It's just a coincidence that this has a similar concept. Whereas No Place was more of the mindset of a angry teenager taking out his angst on the things that happened in his house, this is more adult orientated in its themes of marriage and its demise.

"All of the hype this shit album is getting should be taken over to Taking Back Sunday's new album instead"

oh boy that explains much. thank you for proving your shitty taste for us.
i kind of understand why La Dispute is so hated by some people. It's just the not so common vocals and honest lyrics people are so uncomfortable with. you aren't able to appreciate people who are serious and passionate in what they are doing cause its a fucking pessimistic world we live in but hell why aren't you even trying without bashing every shit you don't understand?
Go listen to your taking back sunday shit cause its the only thing you are able to understand.

To the album: I'm liking this every day a bit more and its no step down from Wildlife, more on par with it imo. The lyrics are the best of their career.

Fan of both their previous lps. I'm not sure what to make of this one...but I know my disappointment is growing.

If you were a huge fan on their debut, and mildly disappointed with Wildlife, then I can see how you won't enjoy this. At least Wildlife was only a mild departure from their debuts original sound, instrumentally. This is almost a complete departure from in. In fact, I can't even think of a song on here that would fit on Somewhere at the Bottom.

Agreed with that sentiment. I can appreciate their willingness to expand their sound. This is a much more subdued affair for
sure. Dreyer's vocals also sound at their best imo, whereas on earlier efforts I understood how they could have been a turnoff
for some.

Don't get me wrong, I fucking love the debuts crazy instrumentals. And I think I would enjoy it now if they kept doing that. But on this album I really, really enjoyed their mellow sounds on tracks like both the "Womans," "35" and "Objects In Space." IMO, they were the best tracks on the album.

I admit when I first heard Wildlife, I wasn't feeling it; That one was a serious grower. This album, however, was love at first listen. Maybe I was expecting the direction they were going, but nonetheless, I don't see how any La Dispute fan can't appreciate their growth. I wake up hearing these songs in my headmovies. SOGOOD.

On first listen this is pretty decent. I have a feeling it'll grow on me too.

Someone else fall in love with "First Reactions After Falling Through the Ice"? Kind of their most structured song in terms of La Dispute but it just prooves that they are able to do that quite good too. Hell of an emotional striking song.

Can't really form an opinion on the album as a whole since I stopped after the first two songs, so are those two the worst on the album? Seemed like the same thing as their last two albums with much less interesting instrumentals. I really do enjoy these types of vox, and love some of La Dispute's lyrics, but the vox don't really progress too much in terms of melody and rhythm with this band, while the instrumentals get dumbed down. Don't see how that is progress.

I agree, Ti0n. Do you get a Thursday feel from that song? I do the more I listen to it.

So I admitted to listening to two songs, then typed out what I thought about those two songs. Where's your problem stemming from? Also, if the end of your post is meant for me, I never said anything about his writing skills.
