Dead Congregation is a close second, but this thing is crazy.

These guys kinda sound like a more melodic, less jazzy version of Cynic or Atheist to me. Anyone else get that vibe?

"These guys kinda sound like a more melodic, less jazzy version of Cynic or Atheist to me. Anyone else get that vibe?"

Yea, I thought about Cynic as well except they're like prog metal with dm elements, this is like 50/50 with both of those

DC and this display completely different natures of music, imo they're not really comparable at all other than the fact that both of them are labeled as dm

Well that's what it boils down to in the end; them both being death metal albums.

I just find this far far more interesting, instrumentally, compositionally and aesthetically. New DC is great but feels like a slightly more one dimensional version of their debut. But, like... fuckin opinions man

Well they were talking about albums of the year in general, I don't really think they're comparable I just found the new dc more enjoyable and thus more of an aoty contender for me

agreed. but yeah that doesn't mean this isn't awesome.

honestly I think graves was more "multi-dimensional" than promulgation, but promulgation is executed on a crazy level
