That's part of the reason I'm going, they only have a few tours left in them where I think they can live up to their live potential, and for how rarely they come my way i think this would be the last tour they come to Pittsburgh where it;'ll be worth it.

probably true, I think Maynard was solid live but yeah I don't see him living up to his live potential much longer, the rest of the band was flawless though

This yeah. His performance definitely had some weak parts as is but he did a pretty great job overall still

funny you'd say that actually, the guy sitting next to me was pretty wasted and passed out cold for half the concert

Or it's just Maynard not inspiring energy towards them. Either way I'm 27 years old, I'm leaving the whole pogo dance behind, sadly.

I mean Tool isn't really the type of music I'd want to jump/mosh/dance/etc to anyway. Would much rather be transfixed by the musical/visual experience they create so for an outsider it can def look like the crowd is dull/bored but when you're there you realise that really isn't the case at all

So after 10 years of passively listening to Tool in the form of...well, just The Pot, Schism, Stinkfist, and Parabol/Parabola...I think I'm in love.

Impulse-bought tickets months ago, caught them in Edmonton on June 13th, and had a religious experience at the concert. Something just clicked, and I bought all of their work, and am immersing myself in it now and savoring it.

Lateralus might be a new all-time favorite for me. I don't know why they didn't appeal to me before. Maybe they need to hit you at a certain time in your life. I previously just lumped them into a category of their own....hard rock -- smart hard-rock -- but hard rock nonetheless.

I latched on to only the catchiest moments in some songs and that was all I ever gave them any regard for. Yawn. Never even gave a listen to anything outside of their tracks with the "cool music videos".

Let me snob it up real quick.

In the last decade, I grew up, matured, started a life, figured out who I am and what I want and what I value, and, most pertinently, like many of us, I experimented with psychedelics. And those bizarre, frightening, eye-opening trips permanently changed the way that I think and the way that I perceive reality.

Listening now to Tools more psychedelic tracks and their tendency to simmer down and wander and hypnotize the listener, coupled with Keenan's more spiritual, positive lyrics on Aenima & Lateralus especially, it's clicking with me hardcore. Very few times in my life have I found an album that speaks to me on so many levels. In fact, I'm not sure if anything has to this level before. I really, really appreciate this music all of the sudden on so many deep, personal levels.

I think I just became one of "those" Tool fans that people groan about having to listen to rant. Oh well. Band fucking rocks and I feel like I'm 15 years late to the party.

keenan's interview on the joe rogan experience that just came out had some very interesting revelations about the writing process of tool and the state of the new album.

as far as I know Maynard wasn't even present when 90% of the album was written so can't imagine what insight he has to give himself really
