I'd agree, and that's a good point, and I think it also fits rather well into the whole Childish Gambino "narrative". Calling it a narrative might be a bit of a disservice, but his whole career and presence is so intriguing and enigmatic I find it a bit hard to separate the art from the creator (in terms of interviews and other output, too). For me, though, Donald Glover is the type of artist that I feel still has some sort of unrealised potential, and I'm waiting for him to put out something incredible. But I think that's just the way I consume art.

Had to bump, jamming this album on a loop now and it's just too good. I'd better read that screen play too, pumped for his new album.

it's okayyy. Camp is hit or miss tbh and STN MTN/Kauai wasnt that great (altho Kauai is a pretty good r&b EP if you let it be) I dont get the hate for Royalty on this site, but that's my 2nd favorite release of his. lots of bangers and amazing features. his EP with the leaves on it is decent too

For me, I don't like Camp at all; EP and Culdesac were decent, Kauai is good and STN MTN is kind of something in between fun and garbage. But if you listen to Camp and enjoy it, I think you should enjoy most of his other stuff, too, and I know a lot of people who adore his debut album. BTI is quite different, both in terms of sound and lyrical content - a lot less of the lame (though often clever, fun) punchlines from his older work, and a bit less tangential. Have fun!

Camp I have at a 3 tbh. I like a couple songs (like Heartbeat, the closer), but like you said it's way too punchline based that some songs just get flat out annoying. Check Royalty and his EP and Kauai for sure. All three are kinda different from each other
