Let me start off by saying this is no progressive masterpiece like the Rush sheep spew on about.

Tied with 2112 for the most overrated Rush release, Moving Pictures is dated AOR, with cheesy lyrics, radio friendly hits, and some of Geddy Lee's weakest vocals.

Tom Sawyer is perhaps the most overrated Rush song. The intro is pure 80s, where synth became a dominant instrument that would taint many records. The song itself has laughable lyrics, terrible vocals, and a horrendous guitar solo. Tom Sawyer doesn't pickup until the 2:30 minute with Alex back to riffing and Neil pounding the drums.

When you first hear YYZ, it starts off promising... Then the return of the horrendous synth and everything goes to shit. This jam should have ended a minute and a half earlier.

Vital Signs is the worst Rush song up to this point. It's even worse than In The Mood. Geddy Lee is atrocious on this song.

The music on this record is not good, period. Rush went the commercial route and the only way to stay on top was to abuse the synth which they had no idea how to use. Should have taken a clue from The Who you fools.

I recommend this album to people who enjoy pop music, those who only listen to their local radio station, or those with fewer than 5 braincells.

Damn I'll be banal but Limelight is one of my favorite songs ever. Fav song on the album followed by YYZ and Vital Signs.
