"This shit wack meh" - Wayne D
Digging: Carnival in Coal - Vivalavida

For me the instrumental performance here is almost top-notch. However, the one thing I just can't get into is the vocals, which despite sounding awesome when the guy screams, are otherwise a bit ludicrous compared to how well each instrument is played. The guitar work is obviously the focal point here, working up solos which are really beneficial for each song, but the drum rhythms can be awesome too, as on 'Laniatus' and 'Saturation'.
Can't be worse than the fecal matter they released two years ago

I think this album is great

Don't know why this review is shitting all over Mameli's vocals when the dude has done vox for almost every Pestilence album aside from The Penance, Malleus and Consuming. Not to mention his vox on this, Resurrection, Spheres, Testimony and Dysentery are all fantastic. Doctrine is the only album where he took a weird, unlikable turn with vox.
yea vocals are the least of these dudes problems nowadays
posted in here exactly one year ago today. yay
still haven't listened
It's pretty sweet if come to the understanding that Mameli does something completely different with every single Pestilence album.

Weirdly, this could almost pass for a modern deathcore album, like something Born of Osiris would make. Whether that's a good thing or not, it's up to the listener to decide lol.
calling van drunen's vocals on Malleus and Consumed "respectable" is like saying
"Neil Peart is a decent drummer"
