it's really not, it's actually quite fun
|
| |
It's pretty much just breakdown after breakdown chugging
|
| |
and see, i only sometimes mind that kind of music. this sounded good when i heard the first song awhile back, but i'm sure it does at least get monotonous.

Every thread can't be a Glassjaw thread, even though that would be awesome.

Mine or Omaha's?

if this was a full album it would be completely disapointing but as an EP it ends before it can get TOO boring
it's really just meant to be fun live, with the kind of shows they normally play they need more groove in their music to be competitive

i wish you could get a harry potter-moving cover style version of AWLWLB with that animation on it

@FourthReich Thank you. I am also in love with Omaha's avi. It's hard not to be.
@paradox1216 What do you mean? EDIT: Never mind, I get it. That would be sick.

This is one of the worst things I've heard this year, off the top of my head.
I can't believe the band would release this. Mind you their previous album was crap too but at least it had Ivy and Wine.

First album just felt more abrasive than enjoyable. Doesn't look like this one is going to be better.

i dont even understand what the hell this is, it just sounds like crap.
|
| |
The first one had the moments of ferocity that is not met here. Its a lot of down tempo, down tuned breakdowns. And really this vocalist just sucks.
|
| |
The last album was enjoyable because the hard-hitting parts had leads up to them, and that's what made it so hard-hitting. This album is just heavy throughout, and doesn't make any of its sections notable because of it.
Despite that, props should be given for writing with a 9-string guitar. That takes talent.
|
| |
Chugga-chugga-chugga-DISSONANCE!
That's not songwriting.
|
| |
this can't possibly be enjoyable.

@Hopelust: no that isn't necessarily true at all. by your reasoning, that more talent is required for writing songs on guitars with more strings, Emmure must be a collective of pretty damn adept musicians to do what they do.
|
| |
I'm not saying more talent is needed. I said it takes talent. It's not like every band out there is playing 9-strings. I'm a guitar teacher and I couldn't even tell you where to begin playing a 9-string.
Emmure is no more talented than Glass Cloud in that sense, I'm just saying Joshua Travis must have some talent in himself to be able to play a 9-string as well as he does, despite the fact that you and I find the music boring. Boring certainly doesn't mean untalented. Boring is subjective. You could say the same thing about talent, but fact of the matter is, not just anyone can play a 9-string, and play it such as the way Travis does.
|
| |
Granted that may be true, but besides the "ambient" or "atmospheric" layers that take little understanding of theory he dosent stry from the bottom 2 or 3 strings. So if this were some normal metalcore band playing on 6 stings this would be unimpressive. Aslo I have never played a 9 string, but its as easy as every string past the normal 6 is just an octave down from the 6th string below it.

I don't think Josh Travis' talent should be called into question by anyone after hearing his work with Danza
|
| |
Danza was a lot better than this. What does that prove?
