i like the darker tracks a lot more than the lighter ones ("Walking On Air" and "Dark Horse" are two

The transitions between synthesizer and piano around the 1-minute mark aren't quite lined up with her voice; that would be fine if there was any soulfulness to it, but the whole song feels so mechanical and plodding with the incessant kick/snare drum machine that it comes off as awkward to me. Even when things pick up 3/4 of the way through, the "dramatic" final verse just adds backing vocals before suddenly ending. For me, it's hard to make a song very memorable with such a monotonous rhythm section.
