Even so, not ALL mainstream bands are bad

I don't disagree that those bands are/were good, my point, as you acknowledged, was the mainstream factor. I'm looking at it as metal in the larger picture. When killswitch first emerged and became popular, they, in my view, replaced an interpretation of metal that was quite awful. I'd rather have mainstream metal be made up of actual riffage, some nifty guitars, and at least some aggression.
The various sub-genres of metal will always be there for those that choose to listen, so it's not really worth debating who is the best of a given sub-genre, rather I'm more interested in which sub-genre is representing the current state of mainstream metal, and then more specifically which bands.
So if you're saying that killswitch ruined metalcore, that's fine, I'm not going to argue with you if that's what you think. If you want to say they ruined mainstream metal, I'd disagree, claiming they made the mainstream sound a hell of a lot better than it had for the previous few years.

Dude, I'm not the one saying Killswitch ruined metalcore. I love the band, and a vast majority of the genre. I would argue that bands that began to add a less serious and less emotional extension of the sound brought that on. I would argue that bands like Attack Attack! or Asking Alexandria (generic examples, I know) are the reason it's become a critically maligned genre.

My friend is a huge Trivium fanboy, and even he thinks it's a boring record.

Same here. Loved Trivium since Ascendency

Album Rating: 1.5
saw trivium live the other day and all the songs off here were terrible, this is an awful album

Killswitch roles haré, but Stuff like atreyu, Sonic syndicate, bullet for my Valentino, emmure, bring
me the horizon and more is lame as hell. I prefer to listen a korn record or a slipknot album rather
than a Lp of atreyu or emmure. I like trivium but this álbum is mediocre as hell, better keep you high
ratings of ascendency and shogun

Hahaha, granted I'm a fan of Trivium, but I'm not really shocked to see him go. I was a little surprised but I'm just meh about it. Travis was better.

Horrible album. In Waves is leagues ahead in terms of quality and is nothing above a 3/5.

Saw these guys in Dublin a few days back. Even with this album's issues the material still sounds incredible live.
