This may seem like kind of a random connection, but being both an AB fan and an Anberlin fan, I've realized that this album and its general consensus is pretty much the same for AB as Vital was for Anberlin.

In both cases, it challenges the "untoppable" quality of their magnum opus (Blackbird/Cities), is their heaviest album yet, and their most consistent, although not quite hitting the highest highs of the aforementioned favorite (which in both cases is a 7+ minute epic!). There's actually a lot of similarities now that I think about it.

Yeah that is a very good point, athough I like this more than blackbird and I also like Vital better than Cities lol.

absolutely Killer album. Every Album they've done has been good, but this one is easily their heaviest. Amazing band!

Against the trend, Alter Bridge get slightly heavier on their Michael Baskette produced 4th LP 'Fortress'. Bordering on metal, the modern hard-rock on show here is a nice combination of aggressive, progressive & melodic. Technically accomplished, tight & cohesive musicianship holds the album together, with Mark Tremonti's adventurous & blistering guitar-work continuing to grow in versatility. Containing epic book-ends, 'Fortress' may not quite match up to 'Blackbird', but will not disappoint fans & includes enough quality song-writing to look past the overlong 63 minute duration. Recommended Tracks: Cry of Achilles, Calm the Fire, Addicted to Pain & Cry a River.

i don't understand why nobody likes all ends well, or the uninvited. Both killer songs and very catchy. Same with farther than the sun. That songs easily the heaviest on the album

All Ends Well is cheesy and The Uninvited isn't really that memorable

I like these guys, but damn, every song is just so damn predictable. Also, the album runs for far too long. They don't need to repeat the same track 12 times for over a god damn hour.
