Maybe I just have to listen more. It just isn't really getting through to me. The instrumentals are great, as well as the tone, it's just the vocals seem to fall flat to me sometimes.

What kills this band, personally for me, not necessarily saying for anyone else, are the lyrics. Both this album and Seperation are filled to the brim with cliche ex-girlfriend lines and sentiments. This would be somewhat forgivable if the music was interesting, but it's pretty bland alt-rock as well. I get tired of listening to musicians whine about their girlfriends.

Pennsylvanian quintet Balance & Composure deliver a divisive 2nd LP with the Will Yip produced 'The Things We Think We're Missing'. While their influences are apparent, the grungy alt-rock with many hints of emo & shoegaze actually comes off as quite distinctive. Atmospheric, moody & cathartic, the intense emotions of lead vocalist Jon Simmons share center stage with the band's triple guitar attack. Cohesive to the point of being too much so, the album is a tad too one-paced & lacks the build-ups & payoffs of previous releases. Another exhausting listen, this is more a grower than immediate. Recommended Tracks: Parachutes, Keepsake, Reflection & Lost Your Name.

this is most definitely a grower and i've found that listening to random single songs from this make it seem a lot better than it probably is
i.e. put Lost Your Name or Notice Me on a random playlist and let it be the only song from this album you put on it. or just listen to the album. i still love it so

For the peeps who dig them fantastic live performance. Seeing them made me fall in love with them even more. Flawless in their execution while driving a huge sound during the performance. Weird going to a Coheed show to see them though.

This is one of my favorite releases of the year. Incredibly band both on record and live as well.

Were the Coheed fans disrespectful at the show you attended @Atrophy?

@jacobdaquioag, they were at the one I went to

@KSK1 some group of people applauded while they were exiting the stage. Yelling thank god when they announced it was the last song. Very frustrating thing to witness especially after they just put on a great show.

Yeah dude it was pretty bs. Me and my two friends were up front singing every word and the people around us were just so annoyed at us for being into it. I heard a couple boos and disrespectful shouts as well. Their loss though. Ended up getting to meet the band cause their manager heard us telling the merch guy that we drove over an hr and paid the 30 dollars just for them. It was a damn good show regardless.

That's awesome man. Were they cool guys, or show appreciation? Where did you see them at?

jacob, they weren't disrespectful towards balance necessarily, but you could tell that no one was really into it at all outside of a couple peeps. everyone was an asshole during coheed's set tho
|
| |
@jacob, yeah dude absolutely. They were super nice and we stayed by their van for like 45 minutes
just chatting it up and they gave us some free shit. Nothing huge just posters and set lists and
stuff but you could tell they were stoked to have some fans out there for them. They just came off
the title fight tour where they were one of the main acts and to be opening for coheed where no one
gives a damn about them is quite different lol. The show I went to was in Providence RI. I drove down
from Boston for it.

I still like it, just doesn't seem to have the long lasting appeal that separation has (at least not for me)
