lyrically it may be more personal (toss-up, imo) but it lacks the emotional weight that take care had

agreed, but i think that's the '80s tone, and that james blake influence. the atmosphere went a long way, mainly because it framed the album to be more lyrical in a way. like how the production made you feel is what the song was about. here, he's is obviously studying the rap playbook more thoroughly (jay-z is def a main influence) and building an empire on top of it.

idk, maybe i'm part of the following that has been brainwashed, but does this not sound real? in a way other artists of his stature just don't. (talking directly about the billboard charts; don't give a shit about your rap alternatives)

Or consider, "Own It," a lazy Screwston fascimile that even A$AP Rocky would've rejected, in which Drake brays, "Niggas talk more than bitches these days," and then adds, "Let that shit sink in," as if that's any kind of original or profound or even just plain entertaining sentiment.
