Good point, you're right. For my mind this is Dream Theater's strongest album since Octavarium.

octavarium is a great song but not a very good album. i think black clouds and dramatic turns are probably better albums overall but octavarium beats all songs on those records

Octavarium shits on every album after it imo.

Suppose it depends on how you look at it. There are some genuinely well constructed songs on this album, particularly in the middle section.

It is also very welcome to have Myung more upfront, and I'm glad Rudess has exercised some restraint for once. Some if his work on this album is reminiscent of Kevin Moore.
