Perhaps, but you can't tell me the lenghty intro of gurgling is a delight to the ears

gonna check this out despite rolling my eyes throughout the review - apparently it's written in stone that Choirs is the only good Kayo Dot, before this one, despite Dowsing Anemone in Copper Tongue being one of the most beautiful and strange albums that exist in the world?

Certainly a strange listen, first time through not sure what to make of it yet but first impression is that I think I like the second half better than the first.

Tough album to take in a first listen, at almost 100 minutes. Especially if you are newer to the band.

It was surprisingly easy to listen to the 2 times I've heard it.

It is brutal which flows nicely into the last 3 songs which are the best 3 on the album.

That simple distant bass drum beat pattern in Passing the River might be my favorite musical part of the album at the moment. Love how it flows with the vocals.

It's nice to hear Driver go back to a much heavier sound but I'm not sure this all works out to be the masterpiece people have been telling me it is. Maybe my expectations were too high going in. I'll have to give this some time to see if it comes together for me.

I think the vocals are what really hold this back for me, because musically a lot of aspects of this are better than Choirs IMO.
They've never been great on any Kayo Dot/MOTW records but I think this album is the one where Driver's ambitions are most
limited by them.
