Alrighty, I've given this several more listens since the 21st and I still dont like it at all. In fact, I probably like it less now than I did before with only a couple listens. By the time I get to The Last Few it takes every ounce of strength I have to force myself to continue listening.

Cause I love Themata, and Sound Awake is really good too. I wanted to like this one, and errbody kept telling me to give it time and more listens. So I tried, and it didn't work.

That's a shame, I'm so glad it grew on me though. Cos it sucked hard at first. Seeing a lot of these tracks live made a BIG difference

I went from loving it to thinking it's average and now I think it's just really good.

I was pretty much the same. Loved it when it first came out but after the first few listens and the excitement of a new Karnivool album finally being released had worn off i started to see the flaws and thought it was merely ok. Continued listening and came to really like it again despite some of its flaws. I'm a pretty big fanboy of these guys though so take it for what it's worth.

One of the dudes from Metalobsession.net put Asymmetry in his top 10 of 2013 list and his summary nails it imo.

"With Asymmetry, Karnivool managed the fabled double-win: they made an album in the same league as its wildly successful predecessor without just making that album again. After the polished prettiness of Sound Awake I really wasn’t expecting the dirty, arrhythmic weirdness of the new release. This is not an album that you will get into immediately, but you will get there. It will take a while to figure out that that wild percussion does work with those dissonant riffs and that vocalist Ian Kenny is still amazing. Ok, that last one was never in question. Never mind."

Ugh. Steve Judd is a good drummer, but would it kill him to play a straight forward beat?

Not as solid as themata or sound awake. But still, very solid

I'd love to push past it, but I can't hear the album because of the dire production.

I really hope they go back to their old producer. Every time I listen to this I think "oh it's not bad." Then I put on Simple Boy and say "no, it really is bad."
