I don’t understand why this band still gets compared with Misery Signals. Nothing on this except maybe Cursed sounds like Mis Sigs, and TCWCU didn’t sound anything like Mis Sigs.

Sure Prophets maybe sounded a bit like them but how do you expect a bunch of 17-18 year old kids to find their own sound right away…

Yeah, the Misery Signals comparisons are kind of lost on me, too.

Yeah these guys really don't sound like Misery Signals at all. You'd really have to be reaching far out to make that comparison.

Slave might just be one of the worst songs I've heard all year, but then Soil comes on and it just kicks my ass.

and what's funny is that nobody ever says how they sound like misery signals. they just say it cus it makes them look elitist-y :-)

They sounded a little like them on Prophets, but like more melodic and light sounding if that makes sense

"I don't get how Compass is out of place."

I can never take the title Sturdy Wings seriously anymore because of Role Models

I feel like I'm the minority that doesn't even like Prophets that much. I'd give it a 2. The songs are cool but nothing really pulls me in. The Current Will Carry Us is way better in my opinion.

I agree the riffs are kinda good. The ending to Dark Ages is probably my favorite part of the entire album, but overall the album does nothing for me. Especially compared to this and TCWCU. Hell, I think the 2 songs on the exalt split are better than Prophets as a whole. I guess I'm the odd man out though lol.

This band has such an annoying circlejerk surrounding it.

I respect your opinion, but I appreciate Prophets and I have moods where I jump back to that album from time to time. It has such an ABR feel to it, which I absolutely adore because I've always loved August Burns Red, even though I am an atheist; they're quite talented. I do have to agree that Counterparts have only gotten better with age too. TDBHAH is definitely the best they've done so far, but I still dig Prophets.
