Definitely not as good as Controller. I don't think anything will ever touch Controller for me ever again but yeah this rules

Eminem's first two albums are arguably horrorcore (def a lot of horrorcore influence) but are generally regarded generally regarded has hardcore rap instead. Idk why, seems pretty horrorcore to me.

I feel like I'm listening to The National on the last track of course until it gets heavier.

Definitely not a disappointment; however, I feel like they are really shooting themselves in the foot with a lot of their post-production choices here. The overabundance of strings, electronic drum passages, and overly-stylized guest vocals really threaten some otherwise fantastic songs. It's bewildering because Karl's cleans, I thought, were perfect in Controller. The falsetto over Karl's growl in the last track, as well as the bizarre drawl the guy uses (Don't think it's Karl) in Ursa Minor, are kind of cringe-worthy and somewhat ruins two brilliant songs for me. I know they've used eccentric guest vocal spots in the past (Fallout Boy guy), but it just really doesn't work here. I don't know if they're taking a page from other acts like ABR who have been throwing in the random "progressive" instrument interludes--which always harkens back to BTBAM wankery for me--or if it's just an instance of not having a more seasoned producer to rein them in, but it's unfortunate. That said, some fantastic compositions, and the drummer has seriously been eating his Wheaties.

So I've occasionally listened to Misery Signals for like five or six years now and I still can't figure out what's so great about them compared to any other metalcore band. Luminary is cool though.
