interesting review to read 10 years later. the el-p vs yeezus comparison is something i never really thought about, and really a perfect example of a bigger artist being over-credited for a style that they absolutely did not father just because of their larger platform.

also the underdog vibe of the review is kinda funny considering rtj's darling status today. as someone who had never really paid attention to them prior to rtj3 i guess i never appreciated the odd-couple dynamic. this album being free back in the day is very cool never knew that

kanye was definitely was taking notes from the "outsider" hip-hop at the time i think, el-p included

death grips is what i always pointed to... along with many other people... but in hindsight el-p had been doing that sound for like 15 years at that point and even came out with cancer 4 cure the year prior. especially considering how synth heavy yeezus is. almost seems disrespectful to have thought otherwise
