Rubin's one of the worst producers in music atm. Which is a shame cos he used to be really good (just look at albums like Reign In Blood)

"i like the production "

I think the clean-ness of everything takes away a lot of power from some of the riffs

The production could be grittier, agreed. Especially for the faster riffs, like the one at the end of God Is Dead? and Age of Reason

this sounds pretty dirty to me. not as much as the old stuff but yeah.

what i mean is that it dosent ruin my experience of the album like some producers do

Very true. And I mean, we're not in 2013, we're not gonna try to make a record that sounds like it was made in the 70s. It wouldn't feel right.

I thought Ozzy sounded great on this record. He hasn't sounded better since his first time in Sabbath, thought the album sounded great, minus Rick Rubin's obsession with making records as loud as possible.

I just want to repost this comment from Viper that was completely disregarded:

"this is my fav after mob rules actually, but ive never heard any post-mob rules black sabbath album"

LoL

Anyway, as has been said, a lot of these tracks just run for too long and don't go anywhere interesting. There's riffs and the members are all great considering their age (Brad Wilk notwithstanding), but it's nothing new or exciting.

And if it was new and exciting, the complaints would've been how they should've made an old school record.

I think this is plenty exciting, frankly. Might not hit as hard as some of their older stuff, but I don't see many ways on how this could have been much better.

I think if the songs were shorter and had more variety (most seem to repeat the one riff far too often), this could easily jump to 3.5, and maybe even a 4, but they didn't, so it doesn't.

New bands like this make me sick. The lead singer sounds like an old man and all the tracks put me to sleep quickly..Yes I know they have been around since the 70's but what many don't know is there was a horrible electric storm in the late 70's and all the power in england went out. There was riots, murder, rape in the streets and jazz. Black Sabbath was cornered and were gonna be mauled. I had an idea, it was crazy but had a 45% chance of success and Geezer, being a risk taker convinced the rest of the band. I took them to an abandoned warehouse on 77th ave. and hooked the band up with some telsa coils found at a plant were tony worked. At percisley 4pm a surge went through the entire country and the band dissapeared right before my eyes. A few days later their manager , Ed Frost contacted me and said we needed replacements. I found a couple of liver pool look-a-likes , if you will and they continued to release sabbath albums throughtout the years. Decades later I find out from a close friend, Kelly Tort, that the boys were stuck in a limbo like state for all those years. When They arrived back on earth in early august 2012 we had to kill off the look alikes and have the band record this album as fast as they could. I needed to get this off my chest. PLEASE BELIEVE ME EVERYONE, I HAVE BEEN CALLED A LIAR AND CRAZY FOR YEARS. IM SICK OF IT IT'S THE TRUTH, ILL DO ANYTHING FOR SOMEONE TO CONFIRM MY STORY. For old timers trapped in limbo for many decades, this is a great release, congrats boys
