@Omaha

You're fine, ha. I asked for your opinion, and you gave it to me :D This is just a little different than "you have a choppy writing style" or "you need to learn how to use commas properly" etc. I completely understand what you mean; it's just one of those things that's not going to be an easy fix or adjustment and I will have to do some tinkering to figure out how to bring your advice into the way I write.

I definitely enjoy reviewing, so I know I will keep at it and am always looking for ways to improve. I have 2 or 3 albums I am planning on writing up in the near future. I always appreciate it when people take the time to read through my stuff and give me feedback, and you are no different. Thanks again!

"I had no idea he even had a new album out until yesterday."

-Yeah, it didn't seem like it got much press. I thought he was starting to get quite a bit more attention after Little Hell, but I guess not.

"The last three tracks on this kill it a bit. All the way through its solid 3.5/4 and then splat, 3."

-I feel the same way except I like Ladies and Gentlemen and wasn't fond of Take Care. I really disliked The Golden State though; it's the closest thing to a skip able track here for me.

Two Coins just popped up from shuffle mode on the ol' mp3 player. Fucking love it still.

After careful listening, I have found that I agree with you completely about this album. It seems really lazy, and not nearly as good as any of his other releases. I love a few individual tracks, but I hate more than I love. It's confounding, because I have always been such a big fan of his stuff.

Yeah, I know. I was looking forward to it after hearing Thirst back when he first released it. That California song is just flat out bad though. I can at least still listen to Take Care and Death Song even though I am not particularly fond of them.

I have really been enjoying The Lonely Life as of late. Its up there with my favorites now.

Mmmm... beers... music...

If we didn't all live in opposite parts of the world, I would totally be up for a drunken City and Colour listening party, lol.

What are your favorites on here, signal?

Hell yeah, Two Coins is the amazing stuff.

That's one of the middle-ground ones for me, joshie. I like it, but there are others I like more.

Under the City and Colour moniker, Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green just keeps on keeping on with 'The Hurry and the Harm'. While continuing with a full band sound, Green pulls it back a little here, allowing his dreamy, majestic voice to take center stage. There are some lovely melodies on this consistent album, but it's the interesting lyrics evident within the vividly involving storytelling that is its true strength. A touch overlong at 51 minutes, a case could be made that this is the worst of the act's 4 LPs, but that's not all that denigrating an argument! Recommended Tracks: The Lonely Life, The Hurry and the Harm, The Golden State & Commentators.

Davey is commenting on one of my reviews! I am honored.

Yeah, Dallas at his worst is still pretty damn decent. What are your highlights on this, Davey?

Yeah, even on the not so great songs, his voice saves it for the most part. You know, except for The Golden State...

I really don't like that song.
