I think it takes a true Queensryche fan to appreciate the greatness of this album. Having them be my first ever "favorite band" growing up, and having the Promised Land totem pole be my first tattoo, you can imagine how upset I was with pretty much everything from HITNF on. And especially the last few terrible releases.
This is not their best album, its a little bit too short for my liking, but I understand why, and the sound quality is off in a few places. But as soon as I got my pre-ordered cd and blasted it in the car for the first time I literally said to myself, "now THIS is Queensryche!"
This album is a gigantic step in the right direction for them.

I agree.

fairly new to this band having discovered their old good stuff a year or two ago, and been warned off the other stuff, i will say this looks promising but cant stand the god aweful distortions esp in the vocals/treble range- maybe something to do with this wiki info or maybe just the rubbish copys floating about atm?
"The album was mastered by Tom Baker to a high compressed dynamic range of only 4 or 5 dB, and using limiting to reach peak RMS amplitudes of 0.00 or -0.01 dB per song (excluding prelude and interlude).[49] Such dynamic ranges are considered very low.[50] This is exemplary of the loudness war and causes audible distortions in the music."
