Well it seems opinions differ! Can't see how this is ever going to grow beyond a 3.5 though.

I'll bet the songwriting on this isn't too special.

Recent interview with La Torre has him claiming that Peter and him were pulling some writing duties. With around 30 min of actual music, I wonder just how much of this album was actually written by Wilton (aside from leads). Judging from that riff tape he released that was compiled of rejected material from OMC2, I'm guessing a lot of the hard rock/disturbed riffs were submitted by him (Redemption, Fallout, Don't Look Back)

I'm really hoping this is just a pre-lawsuit obligation, and Wilton/the rest of the crew have a lot more material than this for a fairly quick followup. I mean, if they were really FORCED out of the writing process of the last 3 albums... surely they have more material than this?

In another interview they said that they didn't use any of the stuff they had archived. They wanted to write all new material for the new album. They said they may revisit the archived stuff for the next album.

'Recent interview with La Torre'

Wilton, Jackson, and Rockenfield should be doing all interviews. This hack needs to keep his mouth shut as the hired gun that he is.

Such hate for someone you don't even know. Someone that is keeping a band that you love(d) going.

He needs to let Queensryche be Queensryche. No need for him to become the face of the band, as I bet we all agree Michael Wilton can satisfy that handily. This guy plugs his name as often as he can and loves patting himself on the back. He's going to comment on Geoff Tate as well (which he has)???

I don't hate him Willie but I can's sit here and say I like him either. He can sing the songs and that's fine. I'm only going by what I've read thus far.

Most of my comments about the riff tapes was more about trying to attribute the play style on the tapes to this album, and to sort out how much wilton had actually wrote. New Rockenfield interview has him suggesting that Rockenfield and La Torre wrote all of the music for "A World Without" as well as "Open Road".

Leads me to believe that Geoff's accusations (claiming that Wilton's lack of writing was his own fault) had some sort of substance. Kudos to Scott for writing the best music of his career, though. Both those songs are so much better than "dis con nec ted" that I'm not even sure I believe the guy.

He's definitely cocky and loves patting his own back in interviews. There's no doubt about that. I don't think Michael Wilton has the personality to do the interviews. Scott Rockenfield should really be the new voice of the band (in interviews). And, obviously, Todd should avoid discussing the band's past issues with their vocalist because he has no clue (or has only heard it second-hand).

New Rockenfield interview has him suggesting that Rockenfield and La Torre wrote all of the music for "A World Without" as well as "Open Road".
There's definitely some issues with that interview (at least compared to the official credits).

1. "X2" (instrumental) Scott Rockenfield[70] 1:09
2. "Where Dreams Go to Die" Parker Lundgren, Todd La Torre, Michael Wilton 4:25
3. "Spore" Rockenfield, La Torre, Eddie Jackson 3:25
4. "In This Light" Rockenfield, Jackson 3:23
5. "Redemption" Wilton, La Torre, Rockenfield 4:16
6. "Vindication" Wilton, La Torre, Rockenfield 3:26
7. "Midnight Lullaby" (instrumental) Rockenfield, La Torre 0:55
8. "A World Without" Rockenfield, La Torre, Wilton 4:10
9. "Don't Look Back" Wilton, La Torre 3:13
10. "Fallout" Rockenfield, Jackson 2:46
11. "Open Road" Rockenfield, La Torre, Wilton

I'm sure Wilton just sprinkled his flavor into those songs. I read that interview as well.
