Can't you read? Alt is nowhere in the name. And that comment is horridly banal.

I probably wouldn't even have acknowledged him if he wasn't so obviously an alt. 11 comments, no avatar and a bunch of troll posts

When are people going to realize this is their greatest record? I advise you to save this comment and reply to it 10 years from now when the sheeple wake up. I'm patient.
I mean it took them 20 years to learn how to use percussion (and that's OKAY). The so-called beats on the previous releases are C-tier electronica.

Well, it's been like 8 years and this is still their weakest album by a wide margin, for me at least. Just a rly nondescript, dull experience devoid of all the intricacy and melody of their past albums

i just genuinely cannot understand how people find this dull or boring. jacquard causeway, split your infinities, nothing is real, and come to dust are some of the best tunes they ever produced.

Because 80% of this is boring nondescript ambient music. It contains the least boc dna of any boc album. All the layering and sampling they used to do is mostly absent here. There's nowhere near as much attention to detail and creativity here. I do think the tracks you listed are among their best (particularly nothing is real), but on the whole it's just a very disappointing album.

its boards of canada but instead of bittersweet nostalgia its terrifying existential dread at the coming flames. its the only album ive heard thus far that truly captures the zeitgeist of post-911 alienation, the sonic equivalent of existing within an advanced industrialized society choking on the constant influx of technology as we burn our one and only home to ash.
"this is the way the world ends; not with a bang, but a whimper"
