What's wrong with ambient? I can definitely see this being a 5 in the future.

Not a criticism of ambience at all, I meant I've just come to love the punch and energy Geo and Music have that this lacks, therefore this album feels a little like its missing something. But that's more me having a particular idea of what BoC is and the fact this doesn't totally adhere to that idea frustrates me, which is my fault not the album's
Tl;dr this album wasn't tailored to me and I wish it was

Ah I getcha. It could be a classic in its own right though. You can't expect them to stick with the same sound forever, and I for one am glad they pulled this album out of the hat. It has the atmosphere I was hoping they'd go for. So maybe this album is tailored to me :D

Haha, maybe. I guess BoC being *this* ambient is still a teensy bit strange to me and hard for my brain to appreciate, I mean this is still a high 4/low 4.5 for me but would be high 4.5/low 5 if I really gave into the ambience. Which I probably will as I love ambient, including this variety

idk there are just too many moments where like nothing happens and it kinda brings it down for me
the great moments are incredible though, and this gets better every time i hear it so who knows what i'll think after a few more listens

I know that any of the really ambient tracks like Sundown or Collapse would blow me away if they were by someone else
Super frustrating and I'm trying to appreciate them for what they are, instead of searching for sweet Geo beats or someone saying "O R A N G E" in them
Damn it brain

how could any self-respecting boc fan rank this among their best work. insulting

it's tame, it's boring, it's repetitive and way too ambient for its own good, and almost all of these songs have been done way better by them in the past

Still don't know what you mean by that

they delve more into ambiance in their eps than on their studio albums (until now) and stuff like 'amo bishop roden' is WAY better than anything here. this is like a way less-dark geogaddi with sections stretched out and slowed down

it's their weakest major full length, but it's still really awesome
try walking around a desolate looking area while listening to it. that's how it clicked for me. it's all about atmosphere

Totally different kind of ambience, Amo Bishop Roden is delicate and subdued, this album is more cavernous and cinematic
That sounds wanky but you know what I mean, two very different kinds of ambient you can't really compare
