Review Summary: the best way to spend 5 mins of your shitty day

Meat Puppets are primarily known for their later cow punk like records such as Meat Puppets II and Up on the Sun. Before they formed their genre bending righteousness they were a hardcore band of sorts, they were not just any hardcore band however, they were retarded. You see the songs lack any real structure, they create a chaotic assault strong enough to get your goolies in a twist. Guitarist Curt Kirkwood's random chord patterns and unique rhythmic shifts mixed with his downs esque vocals make for a great ***ing time. His brother Cris doesn't faff about either, providing interesting bass lines throughout. Songs like the title track and Dolphin Field show the band in their most pissed off form, while Out in the Gardener shows their country influence which later went on to define them.

Although Meat Puppets went on to make superior records, In a Car showcases the band at their most destructive, while still maintaining the variety they are famous for. Their similar themed self-titled LP sadly lacks a bit in this aspect.
