DJENT DJENT DJURRRRRRRR...

I'm allowed to nitpick, I know you personally. That gives me even more reason to do so.

True. And it helps me not look stupid, so I don't mind. I updated it. Tweaked the "true progressive metal" into "more progressive" too.

So that no one worries about it being UNTRVE.

'more progressive' is actually even more confusing. Change it into 'traditional progressive metal' or make a reference to a well-known artist.

Boy, I'm glad I don't really listen to much djent OR progressive metal so I don't have to partake in this battle of semantics.

I think it makes sense. I don't know what you see as so confusing, to be perfectly honest.

I'm not in the mood for pointless battle of what subgenre is more progressive tbh.

"I'm not in the mood for pointless battle of what subgenre is more progressive tbh."

It's really just a matter of it leaning more towards the progressive. But whatever.

They should just use sax on all tracks and convert to being a fusion group.

Haha! Greg in full-on "get off my lawn" mode. :-D

But I agree with him. Traditional progressive metal = stuff that was considered prog BEFORE djent came along and found its way into almost everything. That doesn't mean that djent isn't prog, it's just an identifiable subset of prog. And saying something is *more* progressive is weird, because it's hard to consider TesseracT's sound on Altered State being any *more* progressive than the sound on One. It's just moving slightly away from djent towards the traditional idea of progressive metal.

"One" was my favorite album of the past 3 or so years, and I can safely say after looping this album
about 10 times in the past week, this trumps it absolutely.

In early previews I was so easily turned off by the high pitched vocals, but you get used to them
quick...I love them now. The self-harmonizing you mentioned, that actually might be my favorite part
of the album. For some reason vocal harmonizing stands out to me...it's why I love so much Coheed
and Tides of Man. The vocals really do carry the album and enhance the atmosphere more than I ever
imagined they would.

Some people are hating on this album a bit, and many find it just average, but I think it's pretty
much perfect.

The arc I'm seeing here is not unlike Cynic. Both started out miming a genre with a hint of
excellence, then easing into it while standing out a bit, to pulling a 180 and going full blown prog
with plenty of lush ambience. Love it. Ten bucks says their next set of work pulls a Carbon Based
Anatomy and drops the djent riffs altogether.

Dunno about this. One was brilliant.
New guy can sing but I just find this kind of boring? Their ambidjent sound needs to evolve methinks.

It doesn't suck. But it's definitely nothing to loose your shit over. Maybe it'll grow. It's not as inconsistent as Periphery II
