Listened to this album quite a bit. Not liking it as much as other National albums.
One thing that strikes me is their continual growth as a band. This represents something different than their previous album High Violet, but it's not quite as good or original. High Violet straddles the line between being catchy/quirky. This doesn't do that as well. Sort of depressing. Less music(al). Same verbage, though it seems more cumbersome at times.
