first listen gut reaction is that the new album is absolutely gorgeous and the most accessible of their albums but doesn't sacrifice the depth their stuff usually has. Their most overtly pop album for sure. It's just really REALLY fucking pretty too

stupid logic as this album is the least groundbreaking or experimental work in deerhunters catalogue. deerhunter have changed time and time again to great reception, just with this album they decided to do away with everything that made them interesting at all to begin with and just make a generic surf garage rock albm

I like the fact Deerhunter gave into their scuzzy retro garage side and released this, its a style you could always hear a hint of in their other material but here they run with it.
