Yeah it's not super consistent album but the highlights (e.g. What I've Done, Valentine's Day, Given Up) still make it a genuine effort.

The best songs here are the non-singles if you ask me. It made this "change of style" seem worth it. I thought it was a good idea to change up from generic nu-metal cheese.

Agreed, the non-singles were the best parts of this. If this album was made up of 12 What I've Dones then it'd be a snoozer. Curveballs like Hands Held High and The Little Things... were a nice change of pace after Hybrid Theory and its sequel.
