this leaves me cold at times but at others it is really fucking spectacular. i HATE, HATE no past lives, but only because it's put in this particular album. sounds like he still wanted to make these repetitive sound experiments but had commited himself to something else

like expected, middle section is weaker than beginning and end (exception of inter, don't know how i feel about what is basically an interlude ending the album). really interesting, some really powerful moments on this album, but the melodies seem frontloaded. loved cerulean and the first half of pop songs. looking forward to repeated listens

very solid review, noice stuff

Incompatible is the song I come back to this album for (although I have issues with the lyrics).

i think the cringe-lyrics are necessary. i mean baths kind of throws words like "erection" and "toilet-seat" in order to capture that uncomfortable proximity incompatible's story contains, and it works marvelously even if the listening experience isn't as pleasurable. i think this effect works even better on no eyes - when's the last time the word f.u.c.k. actually provoked a strong repulsion in lyrics? it's become sort of powerless in today's culture yet wil showed that it still can be used to great effect

Edited the poo out of this review, and am glad to continue doing so. If you guys see anything worth noting, please leave a comment!

But the album continues to grow on me, save for "Phaedra." This is subdued in the best way.

Plenty of expression in some of those dance moves. Note, in particular, the small girl kind of behind and to the right of Baths. Notice her throughout.

Why the mixed feels Aids?

I might be going to see Baths in a couple weeks, he'll be in Atlanta for a bit. Maybe I can convince my girlfriend to skip work for the night.

it's just the vocals, honestly, I don't like how he handles them. Some of his songs have potential but then most of them just go in a direction that I really don't like. Lowering this to a 3, I enjoy Cerulean significantly more than this.

He played in Vancouver tonight but it's the sort of show I wouldn't do alone and all my friends that would have gone are out of town (most are at Sasquatch fml)

Yeah I don't enjoy this as much as Cerulean at all. Even though I've barely listened to Cerulean

Not sure how I feel about the vocals, but if I like the overall sound, should I get Cerulean?
