I have finally heard the whole album... It is boring and unoriginal. However these guys are getting VERY popular VERY fast.

Matt doesnt have a high scream, which is one of the things i like. It is deep and powerful. I myself have learnt quite a few of these songs (minus the solos, im not that good yet :P) and i agree that alot of them are very similar musically. Without the E string trivium probably wouldnt exist since it is used massively in every part of each song (minus solos).

I fail to see how drop D is a con. You dont need to tune your guitar to drop D unless you really want, it sounds similar enough.

Also, I always thought trivium were thrash metal. Their song structure is samey yet a working energetic structure. This Message Edited On 04.21.06

Just because they use the E string (well D string with the tuning) doesn't make them thrash.

That's a bad excuse for bad technique. He squawks, there's no getting around it.

"That's a bad excuse for bad technique. He squawks, there's no getting around it."

Id rather listen to squawking then a faggot band that does your interpretation of whatever you want to call their way of "screaming", high pitched or "boring" stuff like for example, alexisonfire does, bores anyone with brains to tears.

Re-read, i never said that. Here, ill rephrase it.This Message Edited On 04.21.06This Message Edited On 04.21.06

Since New England blew up, the boring generic metalcore album seems to be all the metal world is interested in anymore.

Sometimes I just wish Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall never came around in the first place. (Well, Shadows Fall at least.)

I'd never wish that on Converge anyway.

Oh, man it's like a buffet of stupidity. I don't know where to start.

First of all, one band I'm a huge fan of that feature great screams is Judas Priest. And yes, Rob Halford is gay, but that just means if you call him a faggot, then you're a homophobic moron.

Besides that, the fact that you imply you are someone with "brains" but you can't think of a better word to insult my taste in music than "faggot" proves that you are nowhere near as intelligent or witty as you imagine.

Second, I happen to like all kinds of harsh vocals. After Forever, Epica, Opeth, Children of Bodom, Norther, Kalmah, Dillinger Escape Plan, Bathory, Melechesh, Arch Enemy... Hell, the list goes on. Proving that not only do you have no clue what my taste in music is, but also that I have better taste than you.

For another, your hostile, condescending reaction shows that you are way too emotionally excitable to be on the internet.

And on top of all this, I actually can pull off harsh vocals. I've studied the techniques thoroughly and spent the last year practicing daily.

If you don't speak fact, this all means that I know what I'm talking about, and you don't.This Message Edited On 04.21.06

Look....there not even close where do u back that statement up with. And iron maiden started like idfferent types of techniques what has trivium done thats different then any other metal core band? I like pull harder on the strings of ur Marty(?) but when i listen to ne other song on that asendecny CD its sounds like every other song. Another thing, metallica was filled with solo's by mainly hammet (or one guitarist) and although hetfield was also a good guitarist , they didnt have back to back solo's like trivium. I think u were only saying that because there both a 4 man band with a guitarust that sings and one that sits back and shreds the solo's. I guess there like maiden in back to back solo terms.

Why, he can't scream and his singing voice is below average.

I hope that people will stop labeling anything new from America metalcore..

harsh vocals =/= bad vocals

As a practitioner of hard vocals myself, it's extremely difficult and requires a lot of work and dedication to get proper tone and technique.

When he learns how to do it right, I'll stop ragging on him. Until then, Trivium won't be getting any of my money. This Message Edited On 04.22.06

Heafy has to grow some originality too, in order for me to like the band...

It is quite hard to get the right tone out of your vocals in order to make them sound good.

Atleast M. Shadows can actually sing, Matt just screams without technique and half the time it's inaudible. And when he does sing it's below average, his voice always sounds the same to me. But Shaodws changes his up quite a bit.

Does anyone else have a bad taste in their mouth after they listen to Dying In Your Arms? Doesn't it scream 'written as a single'?
I actually like Trivium, so I'm not dissing them for that, but don't you think it's a little obvious? Or am I imagining things?

Good Review..

But I can't quite understand how Dying in your arms was a recommended track and A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation was not..

Since when did i say i cared about your music taste or that i knew what it was? Hypocrite? PM me for more info, derailer. Since when does not knowing YOUR personal taste make me stupid? Look in the mirror before posting ok? Also, since this is opinion based, facts dont matter. Also, if i am to "excitable" to be on the internet, then why are you "stupid" enough to respond to my "stupidity"? Nice, hypocrite. I'm not homophobic, infact I know many gay/bisexual people, faggot has became more of a direct offensive word rather then a reference for a gay person. If I was directly trying to degrade gays id of said "gay", but after all since you have no way of knowing that just like id have no way of knowing YOUR personal favourites, i suppose im as low as you. This Message Edited On 05.11.06

Oh Jesus, another insect flying into the bug zapper.

That's the message I got when you spouted off this little nugget:

"Id rather listen to squawking then a faggot band that does your interpretation of whatever you want to call their way of "screaming", high pitched or "boring" stuff like for example, alexisonfire does, bores anyone with brains to tears."

I rest my case. Also, don't use the word hypocrite when you clearly don't know what it means.

Since when does not knowing YOUR personal taste make me stupid?

Pretending to know is what makes you stupid. Get your verbs straight, kiddo.

Look in the mirror before posting ok?

I'm doing that right now, and god d*mn I look good.

Also, since this is opinion based, facts dont matter.

Okay, I trust everybody can tell what's wrong with this statement, so I don't need to point it out. All I can say is... wow! That has got to be one of the brattiest attempts to justify one's own bullshit I have ever seen.

Also, if i am to "excitable" to be on the internet, then why are you "stupid" enough to respond to my "stupidity"?

Okay, now you're just abusing the quotation marks. Anyway, I don't suffer fools. If you want to shoot your mouth off and say something ridiculously ignorant or stupid, don't cry like a little bitch with a skinned knee when you get called on it.

I'm not homophobic, infact I know many gay/bisexual people, faggot has became more of a direct offensive word rather then a reference for a gay person.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. It's still an incredibly lame way of insulting something, and shows you have no real wit at all.

If I was directly trying to degrade gays id of said "gay", but after all since you have no way of knowing that just like id have no way of knowing YOUR personal favourites, i suppose im as low as you.

Okay, kid you need to log off and learn how to work up a decent insult. That was just pathetic.

You need to learn that if you want to shoot your mouth off, someone is going to call you on it. And when that time comes, you're going to have to do a hell of a lot better than these weak, gratuitously hostile, and ineffectual jabs you've been using against me. What you're doing now is merely embarassing yourself. Honestly, why should anyone take you seriously with this kind of sophomoric bile you keep spewing? This Message Edited On 05.11.06
