here's the thing capt I want to get a max score on my run which is 2 miles in under 13 minutes, I fuking hate running so prior to now i've not done it at all lol. Should I still do the 2-3 times a week thing but ramp up the cardio to like a mid-high intensity?

yea that's all well and good capt, but it all depends on how you define a great physique. to some a great physique is to just be lean with barely any muscle, to some a great physique is being totally jacked and barely lean. if you want to be both lean and jacked, you have to do cardio, losing weight by limiting what you're eating (dieting in general) isn't the healthiest way to get "a great physique"
just watching what you eat and lifting won't improve your most important muscle, your heart. having good cardiovascular is crucial when getting into any kind of shape, be it a meat head or otherwise

yeah jumping rope and doing sprints are waaaaaay better than running slow over a certain period of time because of the AFTERBURN EFFECT

thats what i thought, high intensity for a couple minutes with periods of rest in between will prolly do better for me than just running.

Yea capt

" if you want to be both lean and jacked, you have to do cardio"
completely false but to each his own
"losing weight by limiting what you're eating (dieting in general) isn't the healthiest way to get "a great physique""
why isn't it? define health. if you're eating well, ie lots of veggies and some limited fruit and healthy carbs and protein that can be very healthy. Also I think my point is being missed, doing cariod isn't bad all I said is that it isn't as effective. But it is the best for heart health like a previous user said which is true

Whewt? Modern prog metal that doesn't chug, wank or try to revive something into your ears for the duration of the LP? Sweet.
Also, as for exercising: as many ways lead to Rome many ways can lead to your ultimate goal. Anyone saying you "HAVE TO DO XY TO ACHIEVE Z" is probably talking bullshit. Just like the amount of weight you actually use is mostly irrelevant to your muscle. Most important thing is consistency and "good technique", whatever it is you do.

"thats what i thought, high intensity for a couple minutes with periods of rest in between will prolly do better for me than just running."
exactly, to lean up the simple concept is burning more calories than you're taking in
it's as simple as that
so doing workouts that burn more calories over a longer period of time are the most effective such as high intensity workouts like sprints and jump rope burstings with occassional mid-paced, this is more anaerobic than aerobic
now keep in mind if you're doing heavy weights and doing slow walks for about 30 minutes that can be effective too but not necessary if you're counting your calories perfectly and eating the same amount of calories every day and adjusting them every 2-3 months

no atari there are not. its still beastly though

yeah it's pretty cool i'm streaming it right now.

Also, I'd try not to lose myself in "monotonous exercising" - that shit can actually get unhealthy.

Im too i guess lazy to count my calories, all i know is I barely eat, especially the days when I work, I eat an egg and yogurt and the morning, w/e for lunch if I have it, and chicken or fish and vegetables for dinner. So Im sure I cant be taking in that many calories

and I'm not out of shape in any way I'm just tryin to build muscle. Thats the goal after this stupid PT test.
|
| |
eating too little can slow down your metabolism though. causing the opposite of what you want.
theres alot of shit on diet that contradicts. some people say a bunch of small meals is best, and some say dont eat at all until later in the day and then just gouge your face (the warrior diet).
|

"Im too i guess lazy to count my calories"
It's also something you don't need to do, there's a shitload of people who don't give a fuck. Including a bunch of people that are even more on the bodybuilding aspect. (aka "looking good" and "muscle mass"; not even strength or flexibility)
|

damn this would make for some good working out music.

"It's also something you don't need to do, there's a shitload of people who don't give a fuck."
exactly it's funny since most bodybuilders I know just try and take on as many calories as they possibly can in one day, and they're total monsters. They just lift and hit the cardio they need to and the results are insane
|
| |
Eh, I'm not too much into the whole bodybuilding stuff - especially not the whole "mountain of meat" thing, the whole "gym routine" thing is too monotonous for me as compared to more versatile utilities like KGs and clubs ect., I mostly focus on strength & flexibility/health anyway and quite frankly where I live there's a huge "moronic meathead following" of BB. So I just roll with some GTG and HFT at home/outside. But yeah, I know similar results from buddies. (both in terms of BB and endurance, strength and flexibility)

" all i know is I barely eat"
well you won't build muscle if you barely eat
and counting calories is only a good idea if you're trying to lose fat and retain muscle that's why I'm doing it, I'm in a cutting phase right now
but to build you need to EAT EAT EAT, if you don't put on fat easily then don't count just eat balanced amouts of protein, carbs, and fat, 40/40/20
