"i mean like, he is capable of singing. he also does next to nothing to stand out amongst everyone ever."
Potsy, I very much respect you (which our FB friendship confirms,) but this is just plain silly!
Does anybody listen to these guys for a vocalist that stands out?

exactly what i was thinking

Man, the way I see it is that Stu did the same damn thing. I'd even venture to argue his vocals were LESS memorable than this guy. The reason I saw your comment as silly (and I meant no offense by that, either - I was just surprised,) is that TTNG is a group that emphasizes the instruments.
Sure, I do understand where you're coming from. I see the new guy as more confident, but still having the ability to hold back for the majority of the album. And TTNG does best when their music has room to breathe.

honestly I forgot these guys even had vocals so I don't care if the new guy sucks.
It's been a while since I jammed "Animals" but in my head it was all just mathy guitar riffs and shit, I can't recall any lyrics at all.

they had a legit reason though, they don't want future U.S. fans buying their t-shirts and then getting their ass beat given the ignorant issue on guns

It's a relatively big difference, though. Think about peoples' willingness to check these guys out, for instance: I'm willing to bet quite a few of us became interested in these guys because of the wacky name. I'm not saying that's the main reason or even a large one (we all probably like this style of music anyway,) but I sure know I wouldn't have been as keen on checking these guys out if their name was just TTNG. Yeah, it is true that it stands for This Town Needs Guns, but that doesn't mean anything when new fans are considering checking these guys out, and see the boring 'ol TTNG and decide to opt out.
I don't think it'll change too much, but the change it will cause is worth considering at least
