Following their guitar-driven debut, Dallas indie-rockers Air Review quieten things down on their self-produced 2nd LP 'Low Wishes'. Containing flourishes of folk-pop, as well as some electronic embellishment, the atmosphere here is very serene. Unfortunately, the quintet have taken things a little too far, with the impressive melodies often overwhelmed by the mellow feel which makes most tunes float along too uninvolvingly. Thankfully, the predominantly poignant lyrics - containing smatterings of christian themes - do engage, resulting in a promising - if flawed - record. Recommended Tracks: Low Wishes, Young, My Automatic & Waiting Lessons.

It's a good album for what it is; it's melodic, has a nice flow, catchy at times...just doesn't have a wow factor at any point that makes it stand apart from other albums (IMO). And it doesn't have to be something fast or upbeat, like For Emma, Forever Ago stood out to me around the last minute of "Flume" and that's one of the chillest albums ever.

Yeah, what he said. "Uninvolving" is probably the best word to describe what I didn't like.

They killed it live tonight. Title track and Animal especially blew my mind with how explosive both were. Also got a chance to talk with the guys afterwards and they are all super cool dudes. Only negative part of their act was no America's Son. They said they didn't play it because it's one of their most chill songs and people weren't that into their set. >: o

There was some talk about LP2, but that was a while ago. Their facebook seems kinda dead as well. It'd be cool if they did another record, but I kind gave up waiting at this point.
