Guaranteed this will grow on half of you. It's better than their debut.

This is basically a longer and more boring version of Nahvalr.

It could be trimmed a bit but fuck it, I can handle the grim slap to my face for a while longer.

The sound on this album is generally depressive and brooding, but with an extremely dark tone and overbearing heaviness courtesy of the guitar work. For me the instrumentals running under a minute cut the flow of the album and the vocals appear to be buried too much into the mix, but with excellently structured songs such as 'The headless serpent' and quite brilliant instrumental 'Created sick; Commanded to be well' Abyssal seem to be firing on all cylinders with this album. Perhaps next time the band could forget about putting those sub-minute instrumentals into the finished product.

When it comes to gloom this is clearly true. It would be wise to approach the subject with production in
mind. However this can lead to missing out important facts.

This has crept up for me. When I first heard it back in January I found it quite boring, but for some reason it stayed on my MP3 player. Found myself listening to it again last week and thought 'hey, this is alright stuff'.

I'd say it's about on a par with Denouement.

Well, shit. I listen to Novit Enim for the first time in months today, and then find they drop a new one. Will check more tomorrow, but the opening track is sounding brilliant.
