a polished and refined CTTS sounds very uninteresting
ATRU's messiness and voice cracking was a godsend to my 15 year old ears
even though im 22 now, i want my punk raw and sloppy

It doesn't sound so polished to the point that it sucks though. It sounds exactly the way they sound live now so "polished" and "overproduced" is kind of relative in this situation.
