Released as both a stand-alone EP, as well as an addendum to the deluxe edition of ‘Born to Die’, ‘Paradise’ is an intriguing 8 tracks worth from the ever divisive Lana Del Rey. While the fact that these tunes are practically B-sides & offcuts means that this is not as good as her preceding duo of 2012 releases, there is still enough here to be captivated by. Those digging deeper into the lyrics will find both positives (this seems a little more personal than her LP) & negatives (some embarrassingly bad lines), while the cover of ‘Blue Velvet’ seems fitting as the entire EP could soundtrack a David Lynch film. Recommended Tracks: Ride, Gods & Monsters and American.
