there are many personal reasons but mainly out of respect for artist wishes, not wanting to get in trouble with the law as that would affect my family greatly as well as myself, and treating others as I'd want to be treated; just to name a few
I am, however, totally for artists who make their music available for free as I do. I simply love that system and bandcamp is one of the best free music sites I've ever seen.

eh i don't find anything wrong with illegal downloading at all, but that's because i support all the artists i love as best i can. i try to buy anything above a 4/5 in physical format if i have the money. but i've downloaded like 500 albums from this year and there's no way in hell i could ever afford to pay for that much music. and exposure for new artists is like impossible unless you give away music for free or it's available illegally

I understand what you mean. I can't afford much either. What I've been doing as lately is just messaging the artist directly and I've been surprised as I've gotten free music. In a particular instance I offered to review an artist album if they would email me their album and sure enough they obliged.
Legit Streams also help for me too.

damn man that's a pretty cool deal. eh i am pretty finicky about audio quality so if a stream isn't in 320 or flac (which they basically never are) then i can't dig it.

I see what u mean. Also, I do want to say that I def don't judge those who do as I've dl'd for many years prior. It was just a personal decision and not an 'Im above those who do' kinda thing. That's def not who I am.
