Editors have some great singles and interesting work (I do like that third album), but their stuff just does not hold up unfrotunately. I was listening to the first LP on vinyl yesterday that I bought in 2005... Totally inessential

"It's kinda embarrassing that El Pintor has the same average as this..."
Why, El Pintor is fucking awesome; definitely better than this.

El Pintor is their second best album.

I would give El Pintor 3rd best, but maybe tied with Our Love for 3rd tbh

^ exactly. I'd say they're an equal third, although I do slightly favour El Pintor because it's "hey, we're back and we can do this" as opposed to "hey, we're kind of beginning to suck a little bit now".
I'm all for contrarian views (indeed, I used to say this was their best album), but just look at these songs: Evil, Narc, Not Even Jail, C'Mere, Length of Love - those tracks grouped in one place could take down albums better than El Pintor

I agree, this has some awesome tracks on it, but equally El Pintor has some absolute bangers: All the Rage Back Home, My Desire, Same Town, New Story, My Blue Supreme, Ancient Ways.
And when considering how late on El Pintor came in their career, it's impressive; some of their best work is on it.

I don't wanna preach, but when people on here say shit against it, it blows my mind.
Especially when every album they've done is at worst great.

Bless you sir, I could not have said it better. And yesss I used to say Antics was my easy favourite in their discog, but as you get older you appreciate the bleak mood of their debut I guess lol
And I think El Pintor could have been enhanced sooooo much if it had the bass chops of Antics.

TBH, El Pintor's biggest mistake was losing the iTunes exclusive tracks; those tunes fucking slayed and should have been in the standard track list.
|

Omg yes man, they are amazing. Even better than some of the official tracks.

Agreed. painful seeing them as exclusives

I only learned about their existence through a fluke too, which made things even worse haha

Anyway the moral of this story is it's time for me to dig into El Pintor again, so I guess it's a win win

Interpol always wins in the end

""Carlos really doesn't like playing the bass guitar," Fogarino said. "How integral is the bass to Interpol? I mean, it's huge. It's a total harmonic component. It's hook-laden. But he really, really didn't like the bass. It's not his instrument of choice, and it definitely wasn't his first instrument."
Like Michaelangelo hating to sculpt. Carlos absolutely owns this album

Damn he def hid it well on the first 2 albums
