The 2nd half of Facelift is already lacking, so it'd be better if those two songs were on Dirt and made it an even bigger bona fide masterpiece.

nah, I love the discog as is including the EPs. They were as popular as the albums in my circles. I seriously wouldn't change a thing I love this group just the way it is.

Sunshine is on the 2nd half which is one of my favs off Facelift. Maybe the 2nd half feels like it's
lacking to you because the 1st half is so solid?

Well frankly I can't argue any of that, but I'm just simply saying had those two songs been on Dirt instead, it would probably be my favorite album ever.

That is quite possible.

I think if I had to pick a least favorite song off Dirt it would be Hate To Feel. And that's only because the slow tempo of the song makes it a tad boring.

Fair enough I just figure why mess with greatness. ;-)

As far as their EP's are concerned, Nutshell gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it. My old band covered that song at one of our shows.

"These guys were probably better than nirvana"
In retrospect I always saw AiC as way more technically proficient than Nirvana.
I honestly don't even compare them.
I always found it funny that there were so many great grunge groups but they were all so very
different.

Alice in Chains and Nirvana aren't even in the same galaxy in terms of overall quality.

How the hell can you be different with grunge
Soundgarden made two awesome albums and had charm
Alice in Chains did the same with technical proficiency like you said
Pearl Jam appealed to a lot of people
Nirvana made a retarded song with grating guitars you could copy by throwing your keys in a blender

Nirvana made mostly shitty music for the masses while the 3 aforementioned bands created timeless art.

"How the hell can you be different with grunge"
They weren't setting out to make grunge... it was a label they were given not the other way around.
They were all just playing their music which had a single common thread due to proximity.
It's like saying "How the hell can you be different with trumpets"
