This was really boring if I remember correctly. All the songs are weirdly uplifting and sappy to the point where it just sounds silly. I want old Hammock back.

isn't all of hammock's stuff "weirdly uplifting and sappy"? this sounds the same as raising your voice... to me

Honestly, no. A lot of their stuff has darker tones, or at least sounds more mysterious. This sounds like the shit that would play over every motivational PSA ever. And it all sounds like the same fucking song, too. And that sucks because this albums is really, really fucking long. Alright I'm dropping my rating.

everything you describe i would attribute to raising your voice... as well. only thing is it doesn't really bother me. i can't pick out individual songs in any of their albums but the overall niceness of it pleases my ears in the background. i don't pay too much attention to the music when i listen to hammock so maybe that's why i'm not so critical of them.

"don't pay too much attention to the music when i listen to hammock"

So if you aren't paying attention to the music when you listen to their music, then what the hell are you paying attention to? The cover art?

as in i have it on in the background. im not sitting there and picking it apart. im getting on with my day and enjoying some ambient music in the background rather than silence. i enjoy having it on while doing other things or while falling asleep, but i'm not focusing on it. pretty simple notion really, background music.

Might change the rating to a 4 due to the first disc being filled with a lot of unnecessary stuff, but the second disc is still truly amazing.

Maybe They Will Sing For Us Tomorrow: a lot of the songs there are pretty sad, same with the Chasing Shadows outtakes; also, listen to The Sleepover Series, the first half is pretty dark

Some REALLY good songs on here, but most can be overlooked due to the length of the record. I found myself getting tedious of the "post-rock" sound near the end of the first disc.

Not sure how to feel overall yet. Gonna keep it at a steady 3.5 for now.
