New York City, the anointed, immortal champion dwelling according to innumerable people, who live there and who fantasize about living there. It seems to be the birthplace for human-like hip-hop artists, a cloudy, gritty factory for the raw hip-hop artist to flourish.
Meet Wiki, a 1993 born half-Puerto Rican, half-Irish upper Westsider. A hip-hop artist compelled to discard the sanctuary of mainstream rap ideals and drop jewels some would consider unrefined. There are only a few adequate words valid enough to justify his style and artistic presence. It's raw, straightforward, and comical. He drags edge into the mic and sews words eloquently, remaining vivid and sonically appealing throughout the entire EP. He destroys lyric after lyric, hurling syllable after multi-syllable into the ears, which can be quite difficult to grasp at first to the uncultivated listener, which may perhaps be one of the few flaws with this EP, it's difficult to access the first listen or two.
According to Wiki, these are the first batch of songs he officially recorded for the first time in his life, which is impressive considering the calibre of each one.
This EP will greatly appeal to hip-hop purists and underground lovers whose faith seems to have strained over the course of these last few years. His style might be difficult to access at first due to the sheer calibre he brings and bombards across each mic in a very off-guard, offbeat yet precise, anti-commercial slur and shout.
The subjects displayed in each song are unoriginal at best, protected solely by his delivery and structural finesse. Song after song he narrates stories of living and scowling the streets, drinking alcohol, complaining about people who complain about him, atheism, why he's dope and rudely but accurately streamed thoughts of cartoon-ish violent descriptions.
Throughout the EP you can sense this is just some kid who gratifies himself by spitting over a mic and finds solace in that he isn't exactly trying to impress crowds but instead is committing this to himself, so you're seduced into the carefree, free-spirited attitude that encroaches this eyebrow-raising EP.
