i guess considering the merits and weaknesses of an album is the wrong way to go about forming an opinion on it huh?

"still don't understand the greatness of this, the production is decent but mostly unspectacular (plus horrifically overcompressed, natch) and the lyrics are above average, is there something i'm missing?"

at the heart of it all he's a fantastic rapper. i'd argue he hurts himself by trying to do too much with lyrics and production. his best verses always seem to be on other people's songs

absolutely has a classic in him but this is not it.

How can someone hate this!. I gotta admit the album lacks in the closing department. but shit it starts out strong. and keeps punching on throughout the first 3/4

section 80 is really good also

there are only a few moments on this album i don't like but they're small and not even enough to make me skip the songs they're in. plus it rips in the car and art of peer pressure is dope

this is the better "album" but Section 80 has most of my favourite tracks of his. HiiiPower, Fuck your Ethnicity, Rigamortis, Poe Man's Dreams, A.D.H.D., Hol' Up, No Makeup.....

seriously that shit bangs so much harder than this one does.

no makeup is awful but agreed in general. section.80 goes harder but the narrative construction and storytelling on this one make it the better artistic statement. nothing on here is as good as the standouts from s.80

precisely. hiiipower, hol' up, etc. are too good.

this has kill my vibe money trees and that's about it for single tracks that are awesome.

when i listen to the whole thing i feel like it's good as a statement but when i'm actually listening it's not that cool. this one is also more jesusy and that's never a positive.

sherane, compton, swimming pools, money trees, good kid / maad city and backseat freestyle are all bangers imo

oh and art of peer pressure

and yeah, the religious bs that pops up towards the end of the album (and the fact that Real is not a very good track) kinda brings the album down
