Everyone seems to think they decided to use melody in Continent and The Dead Walk. It's like no one has heard ...And Life Is Very Long which has some of their most melodic work on it and imo is their most unique sounding effort out of their whole catalogue

I've heard their first album several times, I meant The Dead Walk and Continent contained good uses of melody.

oh I gotcha. Wasn't calling you out particularly. Imo they never really stood up to the potential they showed in that album. Since then, it's only been about trying to be heavy. I thought Continent was kinda boring except for the closer and I actually liked The Dead Walk cuz they had some really cool songs on there. I've only heard like 3 songs off of this and sounds like I will probably enjoy it but I most likely won't be putting it on any year end lists

For some reason, I get excited every time they release a new album (which, judging by the quality of their last three, is far too often) and have given each album, including this one, a chance, but I am always let-down. Hopefully they break up this year so I can stop falling for their tricks.
