They're an okay progressive metalcore band that has some interesting ideas sometimes but also completely misses the mark with others.

Even though I do love this band, I can't call myself a fanboy. Most people who know me in real life know I "rep" Tool and System of a Down too much. Hardly bring these guys up unless it's relevant to something.

I actually would never do that. I always recommend mostly classic death metal, metalcore, and progressive metal. I feel like this is one of the last things you recommend unless your friends like Protest the Hero, Fall of Troy, etc.

Wank is when they just masturbate their instruments, rather than attempting to write decent riffs, cohesive music or anything like that. Their solos don't sound good if it's nothing but wank, because it just sounds like a mess.
