The sound they have on here is great but jane doe just works better as an album
|
| |
This is fuckin RIDICULOUS typical of them, almost pointless even, they didn't do anything here that they hadn't done before
This has a lot of good fun jams, they're great to past the time and to mosh like hxc kid but nothing more à mon avis
|
| |
Buuuuuuut as a (completely unnecessary and very gay) disclaimer, I'm fine with that
They've already done and accomplished more than any band of their style could even dream to do, they don't have anything else to prove so if they just keep releasing safe, fan-pleasing records then I'll be happy

Agreed but I would like to see some more experimental tracks like the last 2 on axe to fall, didnt get any of that on here

geez sry 4 my opinion guyz
No, honestly I can see where you're coming from, but this album is just ridiculously consistent. Maybe I just haven't given
Jane Doe the time it deserves yet.

You dont understand what safe means if you're using trespasses as an example of "going hard"

Maybe I should've said that better;
Yes, there's stuff here that they hadn't really done before, but I wouldn't say it's particularly interesting, and some of it feels almost pop-ish, which sure makes it catchier and more accessible and probably fun, but generally makes it feel less interesting and thus with less staying power. And when I say safe, I mean as in relatively lacking in wilder experimentation
They've done atmospheric sludge before, but I feel they were generally more fused with the punk riffing, where as here they are far more obvious (Although, admittedly Coral Blue is really b-u-t-ful)
Pointless was probably too much, yeah, and man I ain't dissin', I really like this album, I love this band and the guys in it, I just don't find this to be a remarkably memorable in the long run

This feels like Converge making seperate songs, instead of an album

Album Rating: 4.0
True, it's a lot less detached and plays more like just a collection of songs and lacks the flow of Jane Doe
