Lakes, even though I agree, there is no comparison, other than the fact that Swans originated GY!BE's style through Soundtracks for the Blind and that The Seer and this are the hype-bitches of the year on this godforsaken site.

Yeah, album's amazing but far away from a 5. I don't know kill bro, why do you seem to dislike godspeed. but you like artsy stuff like bjork and bush, riffs are everything but sometimes crescendosic trems rule hard. what you think?

^if music opinions were as simple as 'you like one thing, therefore you'll like the other' things would be very boring :]

Most likely partially to do with anti-hyping because Sputnik collectively seems to adore them.

I agree about that Noctus but I was just wondering if his dislikement for GYBE comes from his anti-hyped-sputniker persona or he actually don't likes them. KILL haves a very diverse taste in music actually so it's good to know. Most people that like Kate or Bjork can be into post-rock as well :]

What's called post-rock now is a rather different animal than the first wave or original influences. I admit I mostly only like some of the earlier acts but I feel Godspeed stand out more than most of the overly sappy or sentimental schlock that usually comes out of the scene.

Talk Talk's is the most unique post-rock band ever, Sigur Ros is relaxing and good to chill out to.

Yes. Post-Rock has become such a clich├ęd genre. Now people relate the word post-rock to atmosphere, tremolo picking and isntrumental projects. It's sad and I share the same views; Talk Talk was basically taking the post in rock to the next level; they were incorporating new-wave and jazz elements into their sound. One of the most genuine and interesting acts that has ever existed. Talk Talk is a testament that shows "post-rock" is not what the stereotyped music-tagger says.

I've never been a big fan of post hardcore, but like any other genre the best stuff was around the beginning of it. Still, give me post punk any day.
