Listened for the first time since high school, in high school I saw it a sell out by Rush, because I was a stanch hater of synths, however 20 years gives you perspective, and I really like it now, but still not a huge fan of all the synths. It would be just as good or better with them, please tell me why I am wrong Titan bro. Obviously the Rush genius shines through, but why, why the synths

a lot of fans prefer the synth era where you, you are a progger.....i enjoy both.....this wouldn't be the same without the synths, same goes for Power Windows and Signals
Between The Wheels is one of my favorite Rush songs ftr

they use it to great effect before this, but it seems too prominent in this, The album is brilliant but they give it a little hollow manufactured sound, I can look past it now, but there is not need, and signals is my least favorite album by them, but I have not listened to a few of the newer releases, have Snakes and arrows ready to go for tommorrow

alex lifeson will agree with you......from a 'too prominent' standpoint.....the synths became the front of the songs which was very unsettling for him

Signals is one of Rush's best
the synths ruled within the band's sound

I surely cant say that or anybody else
2112, Hemispheres, a farewell to kings, moving pictures, permanent waves, carress of steel, this all better for sure, prob 5 more there 90's releases I like but will give the benefit of the doubt to them, as equal

Both Rush eras are equally good for me
The technique might be better in their older albums, but the synth era has a more fresh and vivid atmosphere

it sounds anything but fresh, sounds manufactured and hollow, and it wasn't like they were the first to put way too many synths i their music

no but they were the best at it.....look at what their peers or counterparts (no pun :D) were doing at the time
Rush developed with the changing times and put out phenomenal 80's material, something Yes and King Crimson failed at miserably (post Discipline and Moving Pictures) compared to their classics. Signals, Grace, and Power Windows are all considered Rush classics, and I agree. In fact, I listen to those more than their prog era.

agree with that for sure, except for I rarely listen to those, but will probably move this into the rotation, it was very good

also whammer, listen to Hold Your Fire but in doing so, treat it as a stand alone late 80's rock album
it really is phenomenal and grossly underrated on this site......some of neil peart's best lyrics as well
